Part A
The purpose of this advertisement is to lure 12 yr olds into buying this product. The layout of this advertisement is very good for the aged audience that it is aimed at. The ad has got very vibrant colours which appeal to all ages. These colours appeal to everyone because these colours make them feel happy. This ad is set out very well because it is broken down so it is very easy for children to read. The advertisement is so easy to read it has the main idea in massive righting which is attracting children to ask their parents to buy it for them.
The main features that are attracting the target audience of 12 yr olds is the main heading which is in big letters so it pops out at you. Another main feature is down the bottom the colour is different and it says the word free with a bunch of free games that you can get if you buy the item. This is very appealing to both young children and their parents because the parents believe if they can get so many free games with buying the product then it is a win for them.
This ad is very easy to identify exactly what it is wanting to sell and what you can get as a bonus if u buy the product. When you turn to the image the first thing that you will see is an XBOX 360 which is the intended product. After you have automatically seen that you will notice the big title it has portrayed and then you will see down the bottom what is on for offer and then it shows how much you can save if you choose to buy this merchandise
Part B
Specky Magee
Specky Magee is a great book for 12 year olds. It is written by two genius authors Felice Arena and Garry Lyon. There is more than one Specky Magee book, in fact there are seven but the specific title that I wish to review is called Specky Magee and the Boots of Glory. This book is great for children aged 12. the book is very easy too read, it really breaks the difficult parts down and the book also teaches you how hard you have to work for to get something and when you do have what it is you went for that you should not take it for granted.
in this book in the series Simon ‘specky’ Magee has moved schools and now attends Gosmore Grammar. He got accepted into this school through scholarship but after a few days he is risking loosing his scholarship to such a prestigious school. Specky finds out that he was brought to the school because of a massive footy game that will be held against their rival schools footy team. This game is held once every twenty five years and the trophy is the boots of the man of the match from the winning team in the first ever Boots of Glory match. Specky is forced into doing an initiation for the boys in the footy team to prove that he is worth being in the team. The day after the initiation he feels pretty happy with himself until he gets caught and is sent to the principals office. After being told that he will not get into trouble for it he is relieved until he is told he must do another initiation to prove himself as the first one was a practise.
After the match he was caught doing the second initiation and has been revoked of his scholarship and therefore has been un enrolled from the school and is sent back home to attend Booyong high.
What I liked about the book is the fact that it tells you a bit about the past AFL players and how they have handled the way they have been in the spotlight for both the right and the wrong reasons. I would defiantly recommend this book to all 12 year olds who have a passion for reading or who have a passion for AFL because this is a great read and it is also educational.
